Mary Kay Knits

Mary Kay has been knitting for over 50 years and she’s still as enthusiastic as she was when she picked up her first knitting needles at 12 years old. She loves dreaming up and writing new patterns and spinning yarn, but her real passion is teaching new knitters and getting them started with their first project. When Mary Kay isn’t knitting, she’s spending time spoiling her first grandson.

Teaching

I love to teach new knitters and have taught many knitters in classroom settings, knitting circles and in private lessons. You can find me teaching in my local yarn store, Knitty Gritty. I've held classes at Loose Ends Yarn Shop, the Horicon Public Library and also taught the community course for Hustisford High School. If you'd like me to teach you how to knit, or help you with a project, but have no idea where Horicon, Wisconsin is, I can meet you over a Google Hangout and take payment on PayPal. I love technology almost as much as I love knitting.

Handspun Yarn

Many beautiful projects begin with handspun yarn. I get my Romney roving from my friend's sheep just down the road. Using my handspun yarn is the start of a truly unique piece. I love to spin yarn. Contact me if you'd like handspun yarn, roving or a piece made with hand spun.

Writing Patterns

My patterns for sale on Ravelry.

All of my patterns start with just a passing thought or need. If you think of something that would make a nice project, but need it written into manageable steps, please contact me for custom pattern writing.

Custom Knitting

If you like a product, but don't have the time or energy to knit it yourself, let me be of service. We can evaluate the cost together.

Beyond Knitting

Caring and long lived relationships form through fiber arts. Knitting stitches and friendships go together. Spinning yarns and stories warm hearts. The caring of ourselves, our loved ones and the world is demonstrated in the warmth and beauty of a gift that comes from the heart. Whether you find a project you'd like to use my pattern for, or use my custom services for yarn, patterns or products, I thank you for your time and honor your support.

“Knit on, with confidence and hope, through all crises.
